Hanging heavy mirror
Our new tenants have asked if they may hang a heavy mirror in the lounge. It will require drilling into a non-load-bearing wall. I want to be a considerate landlord but have 2 concerns:
- The weight of the mirror may cause damage
- Once they move out, the wall will need to be made good, which is tricky as it is wallpapered. This would be ok if they stay for a for years, but not if they move out after 6 months.
Can I legally require them
- to pay for any repair required if the weight damages the wall
- to make good and wallpaper the wall if they move out within 2 years of the tenancy start?
If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be grateful.
