My tenant is required to pay a weekly top up of 16.44 to the housing benefit I receive. This has accumulated to a total of 1710 unpaid in the last two years.Letters and a visit have not produced anything and I feel my tolerance towards the family are being taken advantage of. There are two female adults and two children in the family. It seems unlikely that she can or intends to even start paying the top up or the arrears in which case I would prefer to go for reposession rather than a small claim. Advice would be welcome.
