Purchase of property as tenants in common and stamp duty
I own 3 buy to let properties which I rent out. I live with my wife in another property which is in her name and has been for the last 13 years. We are selling this house and buying a plot of land with full planning to convert a barn on it and we are proposing that we become tenants in common on this new purchase. Will the fact that I own other properties mean that we will have to pay the higher rate of stamp duty? If the new property is just in her name, will we still have to pay the higher rate of stamp duty?
