Hi, just came across the following: That once the AST fixed term expires, an automatic statutory periodic tenancy comes into force. And on the forums someone advised that
"A- Statutory periodic
Means that you can apply for possession at any time.
Tenant also will not be tied into tenancy to serve notice and has to serve max 1 month [if you have served them any notice - eg s21 when they moved in - then they actually do not have to serve any notice!]

Is this true?

So I would like to confirm:
1.If the landlord issues a S21 at the beginning of the tenancy, does it mean that the tenants have to leave at the end of the fixed period? what does the landlord say and when, if he wants to keep them longer?
2. can the tenants leave without giving any notice to the landlord?
2.
