HMO / Council Tax
I am an HMO landlord of a student house. The students have not supplied their college identities to the council, so the tax emption has fallen away and I am being pursued in the magistrates court for non payment.
I have heard that HMO landlords are not liable for this tax if the tenancy agreement is joint and several (ie there is only one contract that all 7 of them have committed to and signed). Can you please verify this and give me a reference in law to where it is stated?
