Having just had a tenant abandon a property without notice having trashed much of the contents and left it filthy costing far more than his deposit. Is there a register on which such people can be placed? I appreciate the legal issues associated with this but wondered if the RLA had considered what could be done in this area to provide some sort of protection now deposits are virtually neutralised as a deterrent. Maybe offer tenants the opportunity to register at the start of the tenancy to be nominated as good tenants at the end. If they remained on the register without a good tenant badge or refused to register in the first place would be useful to prospective landlords.
