I'm ready to give up
Any advice appreciated. I rent out the house I used to live in to what was a family friend. Earlier this year he decided not to pay rent so as to get an eviction notice, thinking this would get him help from housing associations.
I went with an "eviction specialist" who promised a start to end service with 1 fee (not cheap) who forgot to serve a section 21 with the section 8, it was only served 2 months later (1 month ago). Now the tenant is counterclaiming nearly 5 times the rent arrears using legal aid, based on unsubstantiated repair issues, all of which the tenant has done himself since being served the section 8. The specialist has dropped me, giving my details to an actual solicitor, who have their own set of fees.
The local council haven't been involved, there's no outside authority, yet the judge decided not to grant a possession order and is sending us down fast track.
Can the judge, who never even read any of the file, force me into an incredibly expensive fast track, even though I've endless proof that the tenant has caused every single issue he's claiming mental distress over?
