Iíve been studying the new rules regarding charging fees to tenants. Hereís my question: in one of my student houses, one of the 2 loos is an electric one which, if tenants put stuff down it like q- tips, tampons, wet wipes, cotton wool, cause the blades to jam. The cost to call out the Saniflo engineer is about £150. I wonder - am I allowed to charge the tenants for this? I have signs up in the loo making it very clear what they can and cannot put down the loo, plus I provide disposal bags in the loo, and a pedal bin with lid, plus I tell them when they move in and warn them that if they block it they must pay. Can I charge them under the new legislation? Thanks everyone.
