i have just been informed that from April, tenants will receive their housing benefits paid directly to them. This is in an attempt for the councils to make tenants more self-sufficient and responsible for their money apparently.

I am concerned about the less than likely hood of tenants paying this money to us themselves, as previously it has been paid to the agents and at least this much was a reliable payment...

will this lead to a higher rate of tenants absconding, clutching a hefty backpayment in hand, leaving landlords with nothing?..

If anyone has any advice or ideas regarding ways around this, or a template of a letter to send to tenants, infomring them that lack of payment = eviction, then please let me know...
