Hi
I currently own one BTL property and a second house that I live in as my main residence. I am planning to sell the house I live in and buy a new home. I intend to keep the BTL property but I need to know if my new home/house purchase would be considered a 'second home' because I already own the BTL even though I do not live in it. Would my new home purchase attract the higher rate of stamp duty which came into effect this April. Can you please advise me regarding this. Please note, I am not asking for accountancy advice, but simply an answer to the new law regarding what is or is not considered to be a 'second home' in a situation such as this.
