Any case for compensation?
We were looking for a tenant for a 1 bed flat using 2 agents. It was in a new development but we moved quickly and were one of the first to be ready to let our property. One agent called us to say they had a tenant willing to pay 6 months rent up front. We obviously agreed and then contacted the 2nd agent to let them know. They then told us that they had already found a tenant for the flat and it was all agreed. The lady we had been in touch with at the 2nd agency had been on holiday and had come back to find a tenant in the flat without us being consulted. She wasn't pleased and neither were we but it was still a tenant so we left it. Then, sadly, 1month later, our elderly tenant died. The flat was then void for 3 months while they searched for another tenant. By this time of course, all the flats in the development were available so it was not as easy to find someone. There is someone in now but we have found it hard financing the flat for that long in our first year. Are we due any compensation from the 2nd agency?
