I have a property that comprises a shop downstairs and a flat upstairs..
This problem has already been dealt with but I was interested to see what the legal position is, in case it happens again.

The down stairs tenant found water dripping through his ceiling.
He called upstairs but it turned out they were away for a few days.
The dripping got worse and he called the police to ask if they would break into the property..They refused. He then phoned me and asked for my permission to break into the property. I said I had no right to give him that permission, however if he were to do it off his own back I would expect him to leave the door in a secure state.

anyone know what the legalities of this one were.??

The tenant downstairs did break in and found a tap dripping into a sink full of washing, which in turn was obstructing the overflow.
