Tenant wants to leave early
The AST is now rolled over on a periodic basis (rent every 4 weeks), but the original AST made no mention of a notice period to be provided by the tenant.
Can I assume that the tenant must give at least 1 month notice (or would it be 4 weeks?) and does the notice have to be in writing? If they provide the notice (say) half way through a rent period - does that mean they effectively have to give 6 weeks notice?
Can I approach the Council to make sure they pay through the notice period?
After previous difficulties with this tenant pointing out his 'legal rights' (even when not paying the rent), I intend to make sure I recover every penny owed under law.
