I have a long term tenant for past 8 years. He was on AST for 12 months and then has been on periodic tenancy for past 7 years.

Now I intend to renew the AST agreemtnt.

I get the impression, the tenant prefers to use Model Agreement for AST (Government document).

1) Is it OK to use the Model Agreement prepared by Government or refrain from this and use the RLA AST agreement?

2) What are the main advantages in using RLA agreement over model agreement, or are they both similar?

3) Will I still be provided with all the protection and guidance from RLA, even if I use the Model Agreement to renew the tenancy.

Looking forward to your guidance.

Thanks
