Creating homelessness??

Under Camden's additional HMO guidelines, a bedroom needs to be 9sq meters; but if there is a separate kitchen AND a separate lounge they allow a minimum size of 7.1 sq meters. [The national HMO minimum size is 6.5 sq meters.]

Most flats have one small bedroom - so in almost all cases this is now prohibited from being a bedroom.

Many flats will just have one communal living space eg a kitchen/diner - but even if that is a good size, it is not acceptable as sufficient living space to permit the smallest bedroom to be less than 9sq meters.

So the small 'bedroom' cannot provide a home for anyone!

Is there a way to persuade Camden to relax their requirements by letting 7.1+sqm rooms be used as bedrooms where the shared kitchen diner is say, larger than 12sq meters?

Can we find out how many bedrooms have been or would be disqualified by this?
