I own a rental property bought in the 1980's which is leasehold. After the purchase the solicitor who did the conveyance called me in to tell me that the garden I believed belonged to me was not part of the property and probably belonged to the descendants of the bankrupt builder who built the property in about 1900. As I lived in the property at the time I took no action but continued to use the garden as if it was mine. Now my tenants have asked if they can put a shed on it. I remember the solicitor at the time saying that putting a shed on it would give me squatter's rights. Is this the same if a tenant puts a shed up any what advice can you give me about allowing the tenants to do this please?
