Vacated property being targeted by vandals
I just got rid of an awful tenant after a section 21 notice; a week after she was due to leave the local police requested a 3 month lock down of the property unless she left immediately. So we paid her £250 to leave on their advice. The house was apparently the centre of the local drugs gang activity with the tenant's boyfriend being the ringleader. Since the tenant left, the house has been regularly broken into and vandalised faster than the contractors can repair it. This area was in the local paper yesterday described as being an "estate under siege" by gangs. I don't know whether to put metal bars on it or cctv or just let them do their worst until the trouble stops. Any advice from more experienced landlords?
