Hi I have a tenant that has allowed the rear of the garden to become excessively overgrown. I had asked them verbally to tidy it up and was told by them that their cat likes it that way. I did remind them it was in their tenancy to keep the garden in the same condition it was in when they took on the property, having been recently I have noticed it is still like a jungle.
Can I get a gardener in to do the garden on a regular basis and charge them a maintenance charge on their rent by increasing the rent by the amount charged by the garden contractor?
Should I just send a letter reminding them?
I noticed some people are saying they provide tools for garden maintenance that would mean 8-10 sets of tools. surely its up to the tenant to provide tools for the garden maintenance? They are after all the ones using it and getting the enjoyment from it.
