I got married last year but my previously owned rental property is in my own name only.

Am I right in thinking if I transfer a nominal fraction of it say £1 to my spouse we can split the rental income 50:50 for tax purposes?

Is this by filling out form AP1? The form seems to be designed for several different purposes and I'm not quite sure how to do it for this job in particular - is there guidance for how to achieve this specific outcome somewhere?

Presumably such a transfer doesn't incur stamp duty - how do I make sure it doesn't?

And finally can such a transfer be backdated to our date of marriage or can we only split income going forward?
