Gas boiler pre-payment arrears and landlord boiler service certificate
Our gas engineer visited our rental property and he was not able to carry out the annual boiler service as there was £35 outstanding on the pre-payment meter. We rent to the LHA and the tenant has never paid their £8 per week contribution, therefore we do not want to pay their outstanding gas bill too.
Until the pre-payment meter is credited we can't have the boiler's annual service. There is also a standing charge of 50p per day that's being added to the overdue amount. The utilities are all in the tenant's name.
What would you advise that we do?
