I have just paid a man £60 for an epc certificate which I am legally bound to do. My inner 2 bed terrace is upvc'd and loft insulated up to the eyeballs. A brand new boiler has just been installed, so this house is very energy efficient in my opinion. The only thing missing, according to the surveyor, is cavity wall insulation and there is no chance that I will be filling the cavities which are there for a very good reason. My house has been rated at E which is a disgrace. Accompanying the documents are quotes for cavity, and floor insulation cost £4000 - £14000 as well as a suggestion for low energy light bulbs throughout, and it looks like the epc surveyor has links to companies who will pay him a commission for referrals. I could go on but I won't. Does anybody else think that this scheme is flawed?
