mortgage arrangements on divorce
My wife and I will be divorcing this year following a couple of years separation. We jointly own 3 rental properties which will come to me. The properties are mortgaged in our joint names for about 75% of their value; the mortgages are interest-only buy to let and have about 15 years to run. I'm wondering whether I will have to remortgage the properties in my name or can I simply take over the existing mortgages. Does anyone have any experience of this situation/have any advice to offer?
