I received the following email from a tenant with no previous notice of a problem; "I've been having problems with the large blind in the main bedroom for a while now. The chain keeps snapping and I fix it. Last night the chain came off altogether and I was unable to lower the blind. I had to snip the cords at the end to lower it in the end as there is a streetlight shining into the bedroom. Can you get the guy round please? The blinds must be able to go up and down without problem."

I have informed the tenant that she will have to pay for the blind to be repaid as she wilfully cut the cords. She has refused and stated that it is not her problem as she was entitled to lower the blind!

I would like to hear about any similar experiences from other Landlords and any advice on how to respond would be welcome.
