I currently have a vacant BTL property which I am considering selling. I seem to recall reading somewhere that if you moved into a property as your main residence and sold it after 6 months than that will substantially reduce the CGT liability. Is this correct? and if so do I have to actually sell my present main residence?

Appreciate your thoughts
