I would like to ask advice of others with more experience than I about my tenants latest request. Our agreement shows the monthly rent to be payable on the 3rd day of each calendar month. The tenant already owes quite a bit of rent arrears, some of it due to claiming HB payable in arrears. The tenant now would like me to agree an addendum to the agreement allowing rent to be paid in arrears as she is concerned she will need to claim HB again, and states it will help her to pay off the arrears. I am very good at agreeing things to please my tenant and have regretted my 'over fairness' when it has been turned around to bite me, so I am very hesitant to agree this change. What do others think, am I being paranoid or am I being wise to be suspicious?
