Hi everyone

Had a call this afternoon from a foreign student who is at Uni and wanted to view my vacant single room. He wanted to know exactly how much he would need to pay out before tenancy started. Told him, deposit, one month's rent and referencing fee. Then I asked about a guarantor. He sounded quite surprised that I should do that, so I explained that the guarantor is responsible in the event he cannot pay the rent. He did not have a guarantor in the UK and his parents are in Africa. I asked how he intended to pay his rent at which he assured me that he works weekends and sometimes in the week to pay his rent

I am assuming he has done his first year at Uni and was wondering how do they let their students stay on campus if they cannot provide a guarantor? Has anyone else had a similar experience and how did is pan out?

Many thanks.
