I'm after some advice, I originally rented a 1 bedroom property to a couple (with baby) in 2011. Since then the family has grown they now have 6, 3 and 1 year old.I ve highlighted the overcrowding issue to them, let the tenancy go periodic in 2015 hoping this would serve as an indication that they should seriously begin to consider looking for a bigger place.Other than this they have been good tenants. My question is this, given the recent powers given to councils for fining landlords for these sort of issues, which is the best way of approaching this problem? should the council be notified immediately? or should I seek legal advice first?
