Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977
Good Afternoon all,
I manage the service charges on a block of flats. I received a complaint by a resident that a tenant is working on and leaving a number of bikes in the communal area. I have sent a letter to all residents asking for the bikes to be removed which has been ignored.
Am I within my rights to serve a notice under Torts Act 1977 giving say 7 days for the bikes to be removed? Is there a legally defined time period in which I would have to store the items or can I decide this? Finally, I believe I can charge for removal costs if the tenant came to collect, is this correct?
