Tenancy Deposit Claim
have just received a letter from an ambulance chasing solicitor whose clients rented my property from February 2009 to February 2013. They paid £830.77 deposit, which I never protected not realising that it was necessary. At the end of their tenancy the deposit was returned in full. Now the solicitor is demanding £2492.31 3 times £830.77 which they claim is the deposit that I returned to their client. Their deposit was paid by the tenants not paying their final month's rent, although this was never agreed and would have been £600. As the tenancy ended 4 years ago and there were no issues throughout the period do they have a legitimate claim or do I have them take me to court? I would be very grateful on any guidance that you could give me on this matter.
