I have a flat (not an HMO ) which I am thinking of renting to the council. They have asked to fix 30min fire door in the kitchen. My husband thinks the kitchen door which is already there is a fire door. it closes almost fully automatically so will fixing a spring lever or someting be all that is needed. They also want a heat detector intergrated with the smoke detector and wired electrically. I am wondering whether it will go off and disturb neighbours frequently. There is an old lady on the same floor , the immediate neighbour who is quite grumpy and even moans about sale boards outside the block. When renting to the council is it council who is responsible for complaints or the land lord?. This is worrying me.
