My tenant has signed a six-month assured shorthold tenancy. He has written giving notice that he intends to quit on what he thought was the conclusion of the tenancy, but has got his dates wrong and in fact has another month to go (he is leaving after five months) Clearly I can hold him to the sixth month's rent, but can I re-let it before the conclusion of the six months in order that he doesn't have to pay (as I would get rent from the new tenant)?
