one of our tenants has reported to us that another person living in the same block of flats is on the sex offenders register for offences against children.
this other person is not a tenant of ours.
our tenant has a 7 year old daughter who stays at weekends.
he wants to know why he has not been told about the offender and wants to break his tenancy citing this as the only reason.
are we able to confirm either way if a registered offender is in the same block, if there is where do we stand regarding releasing this tenant from his lease and what duty of care do we have to further prospective tenants and the landlord.

your advice is appreciated.
