Can anyone give any advice on how to fight off the reclaiming of benefit overpayment?
Tenant suffers depression so we usually end up discussing matters through her support worker supplied by a charitable organisation. We have just discovered that HB wish to reclaim a portion of her benefit dating back A year on the grounds of "change of circumstances". We dont have a letter of authority for this tenant so its tricky getting info from benefits.
We have never been informed of any changes to circumstances or benefit entitlement.
When we did an inspection about 6months ago the support worker was invited and present as tenant was in a 'low' state.
They are reducing benefit by 25/week. this is not sustainable for us, nor is it reasonable to expect the tenant to find this from other benefits. Any advice to improve situation would be welcome.
