Receiving housing benefit through a Credit Union
Hi, has anyone else had a problem receiving HB through a credit union or other collection method where the tenant has the benefit paid direct to the landlord and the council will only make one single payment to a landlord? This loses the effect of the HB being paid in the tenant's name (bank account in their name under the credit union) and therefore loses the whole point which is so that we are not the ones that the council clawback HB should it be found to be incorrect or claimed wrongly.
What can I do? Or is nothing the answer and will have to use the credit union for tenants where HB is paid to them and then have the tenants where HB is paid direct the us the landlord into our account and take the risk?
