I am re-mortgaging on a buy-to-let property. There is six months left on the current two-year tenancy agreement. For the purposes of the re-mortgage requirements of the lender I need to change the tenancy agreement to a six-month contract. What steps do I need to take to do this? The reason for this is due to the lender's requirements for forthcoming changes in the law around HMO status. Even though the tenants are only three unrelated people in a single let apparently this will become HMO in a few months' time.
