GDPR registation and hands off landlords
I am a landlord with 5 properties, all in my own name and all fully managed by letting agents.
Having reviewed the GDPR requirements I was still unclear as to how far the GDPR requirements would apply to me, as the only tenant information I receive is that detailed in the tenancy agreements, but this does include names, emails and mobile numbers which is covered by the GDPR.
The advice I received from a call to the ICO small organisation helpline is as follows.
1) I do not need to register as I am neither a data controller nor a data processor.
2) I should ensure that:-
a) my letting agents are registered
b) that the letting agents inform the tenants that copies of the tenancy agreements
will be sent to the landlord.
