Is it a mistake to assist your local council Homeless Prevention Officer
Our local council Homeless Prevention Officer arranged for a deposit to be paid for someone who was struggling to find accommodation. She was referred by someone I know and seems totally genuine so in the circumstances I didn't mind helping. Unfortunately, 13 weeks later, no rent has come through - she insists its the fault of the Housing dept and the Universal Credit - The Homeless officer from the council is chasing it up but in the meantime I'm still well out of pocket.
What would you all do in the circumstances - if I serve notice then she may well be back to being homeless through no fault of her own, but how long a wait is reasonable?
