Vetting 2nd partner - how strict should we be?
I have had a number of applications recently for couples where one partner pasts my tests with flying colours but the other does not.
Eg Mrs A has good income and good credit file but Mr A has good income and £1700 ccj.
Another eg. Mr B has good job, good credit file, good landlord ref but his partner has only been in the country for 2 years so cannot prove much (what's the point of credit checking her).
I walked away from both of the above on the basis that next year the couple could split the good partner gives me notice and I am lumbered with the bad 'un.
So my approach is one can earn the money but both must pass all the other tests, ie no debts, good landlord ref etc.
What are your standards for a second partner?
