How does this work regarding AST's ?

A theoretical question however how would this be taken in respect of the ASTs ?

Tenant A AST for 'the whole dwelling' for £XX p/m
Tenant B AST for 'the whole dwelling' for £YY p/m

Each tenant is held responsible by the LL only for their particular rent.

Each tenant has been given the AST with only their name on it.

Each tenant lives in a room in the property however this room is not identified on the tenancy agreement and they retain access to the whole property.

I was under the impression that it either had to be a joint AST for the whole dwelling or individual ASTs specifying a particular room that is let.
