Dear Advice Team.

Are Landlords legally obliged to retain rent records for more than six years, which is the general cut-off date for civil matters under UK law?

Would failure to do so potentially prejudice a Landlord's position wrt to a S8 eviction?

I ask because I have one set of tenants living in the same property for some nine years (who are now unfortunately developing arrears) and my original computer back-ups cannot now be accessed.
