Am I my mothers landlord?
I own a property outright which is lived in by my mother. I purchased the property with the intention of providing a home for her.
Previous to this arrangement, my mother lived in council accomodation.
She gave up her council home so that my sister and her children could take residency there.
I am responsible for any maintenance of Mums home and pay for buildings and contents insurance etc.
I do not charge my mother any rent and neer have done. She could not afford it anyway.
Does this make me my mother's landlord? And if so, is it possible for me to claim any benefits eg, tax relief on costs.
