Can I say NO Housing Benefit?
I have previously read about landlords discriminating against tenants in receipt of housing benefit...
I am readvertising a flat. It has had a fairly high turnover, one every 6 months since I bought it, and would like to find someone who wants to stay a bit longer, so I am intending to be a little pickier when choosing a tenant.
I will do an RLA credit check, but can I not rent to someone on the basis of them not being employed?
I haven't put no DSS in the advert but I would like to not waste time on people who are not able to afford the rent.
I have a portfolio of 6 properties, largely let to families who stay a long time. This flat is a bit different and I want to find the right tenant who will stay for longer than 6 months. There isn't anything wrong with the flat: it's dry and clean, but has no parking and stairs so wouldn't suit everyone.
What do you do?
