Dear Sirs,
Is it possible to terminate a AST earlier than stated on the lease itself?
We have a tenant that noticed bedbugs on the day he moved in but decided to move in anyway. The bedbug treatment started immideately but was not 100% successfull, so it needed to be repeated. The whole process took about 6-8weeks. The tenant is claiming compensation of hotel and other housing costs, inconveniences, emotional distress, additional inspection (we didnt know about), etc. the lump sum is £6000.- (rent is £1350.- pcm). The last bedbug treatment seems to have been successful, but is not guaranteed yet.
What option do we have to terminate the AST or come to an Agreement with our tenant?
Thank you.
