I have been asked to pay around 400 per property by Manchester City Council under their Selective Licensing Scheme. I am aware that local authorities can now elect to designate districts as areas requiring a licence (not just HMOs - all privately rented accommodation). I am, of course, reluctant to pay this "Landlord Tax" and would like to know if anyone else has any information which could help me.
