Fire Safety works by the Freeholder
I am the leaseholder of a flat in a block of 3 other flats. We let the flat to a tenant ourselves. Our freeholder has had the building inspected for fire safety and is obtaining a quote for the necessary remedial work. He has told us that we will be required to pay our share of these works. He has made it clear that we have no part in this process apart from finally paying the bill.
What is the legal position as regards fire safety improvements? What say do we have about approving or not the quote for the improvements. It is clear that the freeholder does not see himself contributing to the cost and so will accept any quote for the remedial work.
