Recently bought a house with a sitting tenant Completion on 25 Oct 2018 rent day 8th of month
Tenant paid properly on due date
Prior to completion asked selling agent who was also the property letting agent what happens regarding apportionment of rent and was told that the solicitors sort it out
Nothing has happened and i asked my solicitor to make contact with the vendor's solicitor
who reacted as if the very idea was totally unreasonable!
I cannot believe that I am not due an apportionment of rent paid to the vendor from the date of completion to the next rent day
My maths says I am due (7/31) + (7/30) of the monthly rent
Perhaps you could offer me some guidance and confirm the legal position please
