Hi, We own the freehold of a building; on the ground floor is a shop which we sold on a 999 year lease retaining the freehold. Above the shop we have 5 flats. We initiate the building insurance and the shop pays half. The building is on a corner and the flats and shop have a different address. The 999 year leaseholder leases the shop to a multinational. However, the 999 year leaseholder is a very difficult man to deal with. We purchased the shop ten years before we purchased the flats above; separate deeds. We would now like to just have building insurance on the flats allowing the shop to purchase their own insurance but I am having difficulty finding an insurer who will insure property above a shop...can anyone help please.
