Our tenants left without notice and put keys through agents door. They lived there for five years. A guarantor was required before the tenancy commenced. They left at the beginning of December and had paid up to Xmas. The agent tried to contact the tenant but she will not answer of respond to messages. The guarantor, a member of her family has said itís nothing to do with them and she is now in a council property but will not divulge her address. Our agent has phoned them four times to inform them that rent is due. Their response was to call the police and tell them they were being harassed!
A deposit of 1500 pounds was taken and is in the deposit scheme. Can we take the rent owed from this and how? Thankfully, after cleaning and redecorating we have a prospective tenant who will hopefully move in at the end of this month but we are out of pocket for 2 months rent.
