Council inspector noticed our fire alarm was not working. The property has four flats. she served immedite emergency prohibition order and asked the alarm to be serviced and repaired - certificate to that effect to be provided. This was done. we asked for inspection with a view to having the order lifted. She then asked for electrical certificate for the the whole property "to get to the bottom of the fault in the alarm system".

In my openion the best way to do this is to obtain a certificate for the alarm system from a competent person which was done.Asking for an electrical certificate for the whole block seems over enthuiastic since the alarm system is fed by seperate landlord supply. We have lost rent through being unable to let the empty flats until the order is lifted.

Please advise
