I have recently purchased a flat which is in a block of council flats. The tenant in the flat below has removed some the plasterboarding to her ceiling so that she could have an emmersion tank installed, allowing her to see the under side of our floor boards. This removed any fire protection between the 2 flats. I contacted the local council who sent out an EHO to have a look. They have since written and said it was our problem and we should ensure we have a firealarm installed in case a fire should start in the flat below. Surely this cannot be right???
